January 2021 – The Hypes

I often get the question what sort of tracks are currently being hyped. What kind of sound works right now, what is popular and what can we expect for the future? So I decided to list ten of the most popular and hyped tracks of that month, every month. By no means is this list complete, but it can give you some insight into where the popular music styles are headed. So let’s kick off – Ghost Producer NL – Hypes of the month January 2021.

1. Malarkey – Shackles (Praise You)

Updating the classic Mary Mary – Shackles (Praise You), Malarkey brings this track to a new era while keeping true to the traditional house sounds of the 90’s, but with a modern production value. Another great track released on Hexagon.

2. Dombresky – Down Low

Classic house in 2021. This track features all the retro house sounds we love and complements them with a catchy vocal topline. Making it almost impossible not to like this track.

3. DubVision – Deeper

STMPD releases another banger from DubVision. It combines a modern melodic Big Room / Rave sound with a fresh groove. If this is where Big Room will be heading, you won’t hear us complain at all.

4. CamelPhat & Green Velvet – Critical

A collaboration between CamelPhat and Green Velvet can’t really go wrong, can it? Deep and groovy vibes combined with a haunting vocal performance on top.

5. Black Coffee & Diplo – Never Gonna Forget feat. Elderbrook

Commercial deep house that manages to stay sincere and true to the sound of the artists. Credible yet catchy with a beautiful vocal taking the spotlight.

6. KSHMR – The World We Left Behind (feat. KARRA)

KSHMR is particularly proud of this one and describes it as the best song he has ever made. This is electronic dance with nu-disco influences at its very best and happens to be the debut track of his new album. With sparkling synths and a bright shimmering feeling topped of by the beautiful vocals of KARRA.

7. Alok & Daniel Blume – Rapture

This sound really is the hype of the moment. Commercial deep house / slap house. Catchy deep vocals, in this case based on the classic ‘iiO – Rapture’ combined with a groovy bassline and rhythm. Succes guaranteed.

8. Steve Aoki x Brennan Heart – Close to You (feat. PollyAnna)

Steve Aoki has been experimenting with his new releases over the years. This time he’s released an EP full of hard-dance tracks in collaboration with some of the most prolific hard-dance producers of the moment. “Close To You” is produced together with Brennan Heart and features the recognizable voice of PollyAnna.

9. Silk City – New Love (feat. Ellie Goulding)

Talking about recognizable voices; we can’t forget about Ellie Goulding. Who features on this classic house track that’s chock-full of classic dance and disco vibes.

10. ATB x Topic x A7S – Your Love (9PM)Β

Another classic remade in the popular Slap House style clearly influences by the tracks of Meduza, Alok and Tiesto. Super commercial potential here.
